Getting Started

Welcome! This page will help you download, access, print, edit, and enjoy your Digital Kim Designs products—with quick videos, helpful guides, and easy step-by-step tutorials.

If you purchased a digital product, check your order confirmation email for your download link. Some products include a PDF with access links, instructions, or helpful product information.

Boom™ Cards

Boom™ Cards are interactive, self-checking digital activities. If your purchase includes Boom™ Cards, you will download a PDF that contains the access link for your resource.

  1. Download your PDF from your order email.
  2. Open the PDF and click the Boom Learning access link.
  3. Log in to your Boom Learning account or create a free account.
  4. Redeem your resource and start using your Boom™ Cards.

A free Boom Learning account is required to access Boom™ Cards. Some assignment and progress-reporting features may require a paid Boom Learning subscription.

Tip: I recommend saving your PDF so you can easily access your purchase again later.

Printing

Printing Tips

For best results with your printable file:

  • Print on heavy cardstock or premium paper.
  • Select 100% / Actual Size (do not scale).
  • Use your printer’s High/Best Quality setting.
  • Local print shops (Staples, FedEx, Office Depot) or online printers are excellent if you don’t have a home printer.

For Editable Templates

  • Download as a PDF for printing. JPG/PNG can be used if required by your printer.
  • Always double-check your text before printing a full batch.

For Foldable Programs (double-sided)

  • Choose Flip on Short Edge when printing double-sided.
  • Keep settings on Actual Size.
  • Use High/Best print quality.

For Designs with Crop Marks

  • If your file includes crop marks, use them as a guide when trimming.
  • A paper trimmer or sharp scissors will give the cleanest edge.
  • Always cut just outside the black crop lines so they don’t show on the final card.

Pro Tip for Foldable Programs

  • Half-fold (ex: baptism programs) → Flip on Short Edge

Also use these settings for best results:

  • Actual size
  • High/Best print quality

Optional Tools for a Polished Finish

  • Bone folder – for crisp, professional folds.
  • Craft knife + ruler – for precise straight cuts.
  • Paper trimmer – a tool with a built-in blade that slices paper in a straight line.

These tools are completely optional and not required at all — scissors work perfectly.

For Printable Wall Art Only

This sizing guide applies to digital wall art prints. Editable templates, invitations, cards, or programs use different file formats and don’t follow these print ratios.

Each wall art file is provided in high resolution (300 DPI) and ready to print. Simply choose a frame size that matches the image’s aspect ratio—no editing or resizing needed.

  • 4:5 ratio → 8×10″, 11×14″, 16×20″
  • 3:4 ratio → 6×8″, 9×12″, 12×16″
  • 2:3 ratio → 4×6″, 8×12″, 12×18″

If your frame size is slightly different, most photo labs and printers automatically scale or crop your image so your artwork looks balanced.

Editable Products

How to Open, Edit & Print Your Template in Canva

  1. Open the PDF download and click your template link.
  2. Sign in or create a free Canva account.
  3. Personalize the text, colors, and images.
  4. Click Share (top right), select Download, choose PDF Print, and download.
  5. Print at home or bring/send to your preferred professional print shop.

Having Trouble Adding Photos to Canva?

If Canva says “Picture not supported,” try these quick steps:

1. Make sure your photos are JPG or PNG.
iPhone photos often save as HEIC, which Canva can’t read. Take a screenshot of your photo or use heictojpg.com to convert it.

2. Open the template on a computer, not your phone.
The Canva mobile app can sometimes cause upload errors. Go to Canva.com on a laptop or desktop instead.

3. Try smaller or re-saved photos.
Large or heavily edited photos may not upload correctly. Open the photo, choose Save As → JPG (Medium Size), then re-upload.

4. If you’re using Safari, switch browsers.
Safari can sometimes block or compress image uploads. Try opening Canva in Google Chrome.

5. Still stuck?
Log out and back into Canva or refresh your browser, then try again.

How to Resize or Crop Your Digital Prints to Any Size

(For Square and Rectangular Designs)

Many customers like to print their designs in a different size than the original file. Because every design has its own aspect ratio, it won’t automatically stretch to a new size without adjusting. This guide shows how to resize or crop any digital print to fit the size you need.

Why Sizes Don’t Always Match

  • A square image (1:1) cannot fill a rectangle, like 18×24, without cropping.
  • A rectangular image with one ratio won’t perfectly fit a different ratio.
  • This is normal and happens with all digital wall art.

The good news? It’s very easy to adjust.

Option 1: Use Your Printing Service

When uploading your image to a print shop, look for settings like:

  • Fit to Page
  • Fill Page
  • Scale to Fit
  • Crop to Size
  • Full Bleed / No Borders

Choosing “Fill” or “Crop” usually makes the artwork cover the entire print area.

Option 2: Resize Manually in Canva

  1. Go to Canva.com.
  2. Click Create a Design → Custom Size.
  3. Enter the size you want to print, for example 18 × 24 inches.
  4. Upload your artwork.
  5. Drag the image to fill the entire page.
  6. Crop the edges if needed.
  7. Download your ready-to-print file.

Tips for Best Results

  • Square images must be cropped to fill rectangular sizes.
  • Rectangular images may need light cropping to fit a new ratio.
  • If you want no cropping, choose a print size that matches the original ratio.
  • Some print sizes will add white borders unless you select “Full Bleed / Fill.”
